The British Columbia Parliament Buildings and surrounding areas are located in the traditional
territories of the lək̓ʷəŋən People
. The Parliament Buildings are styled in "free classical" and were designed by architect Francis Mawson Rattenbury. The buildings were built in 4 years, and officially opened on February 10, 1898.
